Harness Racing Resumes This Sunday Afternoon

Parkes Harness Racing Club will hold a 6 Race Program this Sunday afternoon with the first race starting at 2.53pm.

The Parkes Mensland Maiden Pace will be Race 1 and there is not a lot of exposed form with most of the 10 runners. Octavia Shannon (Jess Prior) has been placed at 3 of her last 5 starts and she has come up with a good draw in gate 2. She is however facing the starter for the 53rd time and is still to win a race. She needs to be taken on trust but this may well be her race. Midnight Casino (David Harris)has been racing OK of late and he could be the main danger. Locally trained So Much Joy has not raced for 2 years but was racing OK against some smart 2yos when last in work. She may be a chance after drawing gate 1. Race 2 is the K & H Earthmoving Pace. Jumping Jack Jimmy(Mark Hewitt) is a smart 3yo and he races well at the Parkes track. His latest starts have been in strong company and he should get back in the winners list here. Our Reba Rose (MItch Hutchings) ran a good second at Peak Hill last Sunday and she is nearing a win. Perfectdistraction and Max Is Back are also racing well and both can figure in the finish here. The Alabar Three Year Old Pace will be race 3. After The Ball (Angela Hedges)looks the winner here after her game second to Homestead Lad at Peak Hill last Sunday. After leading for the entire race she was only beaten by 5 metres. She is back to racing her same age group here and that brings her right into this race. Son Of A Virgin (Mark Hewitt) was a winner at his last Parkes start and he seldom runs a bad race , he looks the likely danger. Rocknroll Idol ran an even race at his last start at Bathurst to finish 3rd and a repeat of that will bring him into calculations. Race 4 McDonalds Parkes Pace sees a visitor from Yanco in Chucky Balboa( Andrew Pitt) bringing good form into this race. He is only a 3yo but has had a win at Wagga Wagga and also 2 placings from his last 4 starts. He looks to be the testing material here for the opposition in this event. Amanda Jay (John O`Shea) is a last start Parkes winner back on the 17th February. That was a stronger race than this so she must be considered here. Local trained pacers Gran Lema Girl, Mod Cons and Mossdale Bill all have place chances. Homestead Lad loves to lead in his races and he should be able to do this in the Terry Brothers Pace. Trained locally by Brett Hutchings, he was a strong winner last Sunday at Peak Hill after racing without cover the entire race. Another locally trained horse Go

Scotty for Terry Powder ran a nice race at Cowra last start. He ran home well in strong company. It was his first run in almost 4 months and he should be fitter for his engagement on Sunday. These two could provide a Parkes Quinella. Serene Major, Our Pepperjack and Our Lansdowne Road can not be left out of the equation here either. The final race at 5.30pm will be the Col Fletcher Ford Pace. There may be only 6 starters but it will be a good race. Local hope Cankickatarget for Brett Hutchings is resuming from a 5 month break, after a successful campaign in Queensland, but he has been trialling well for this and should give supports a great sight. His main danger will be Fantasy Level (Nathan Turnbull). After winning 5 races on end he finished 5th at his last start at Fairfield on Monday. Smack Dab Shannon is a horse that races well when he is able to lead and starting from gate 2 that should see him being able to do just that. Reservation Road, Smart Major and Catch Your Breath are all tough seasoned pacers and will make the others work for the win.
